Born into a Christian family, Jack Sparrow eventually became an Islamic convert and changed his name to Yusuf Rais.
He went by Jack Ward and was also called "Jack Birdie" in addition to his given name. He spent many of his early years fishing in the swamps before rising to prominence as one of the most feared and revered pirates in the world following the Spanish Armada attack. He was born into a poor family and went on to become one of the most well-known pirates and sailors.
